Alpha‐ arbutin, similar to arbutin, inhibits the production and deposition of melanin. It inhibits tyrosinase activity at very low concentrations and is superior to arbutin in inhibiting tyrosinase, rapidly lightening and brightening the skin, effectively lightening spots, protecting the skin, and reducing skin damage caused by UV rays.
