Tall oil fatty acids main components are a mixture of oleic acid, linoleic acid and their isomers, and contain a small amount of rosin acid and unsaponifiable matter. Alcoholization and amine reactions can occur.
Tall oil fatty acids are mainly used in the production of oilfield chemicals and ore flotation agents. It is also used in the production of dimerized and trimerized fatty acids used in the coatings industry.
